Kristy Newkirk

EIT - Designer

As a University of Idaho student in Environmental Science, Kristy was inundated all the buzz words like “green” and “sustainable.” The trick was how to turn that from empty worded marketing in to the real thing. Even before joining the Flynner team, Kristy was well acquainted with the Flynner reputation as one of Idaho’s top sustainability-based firms and tailored her education to that business model.

After 10 years of customer service experience, and 2 years in engineering and design, Kristy is a valuable asset during the design and construction. Kristy has incorporated 3D modeling into the Flynner process, which help clients visualize the design in a much more realistic way that typical 2D drafting. The modeling allows for faster turn around when multiple options or changes are requested so clients can be much more involved in the design without sacrificing time.

Kristy has also helped streamline the project management side of the project. The clients can now have a platform to ask questions, view specs, follow the budget, and more. With a more efficient process, we can head off problems before they start costing clients more money.

Kristy’s credentials include:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science, University of Idaho

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Boise State University

  • Certified Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) through the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors
